FA Licensed Coach Scheme

The aim of the Licensed Coach Scheme is to establish a kite mark for the coaching of Football and to support the continuing professional development of active coaches.

The scheme will raise standards and develop a World Class Coaching structure by ensuring coaches are in date , up to date and equipped to support and develop players for today and tomorrow , whilst promoting the highest standards of coaching and guarantee a high level of service to clubs , players , schools , local authorities and the like.

To obtain a Licence a coach must hold a Coaching qualification , a current CRB/ISA Certificate , a current Safeguarding / Welfare Officer Certificate and a current Emergency Aid Certificate.

The pilot Licence is valid for 12 months. To maintain the Licence a coach must maintain their Welfare and Medical qualifications.

The Licence Coach scheme is currently in a pilot phase and this system is the first part of enabling a coach to manage their FA accreditations, contact details, roles and Licence online. The FA accreditation records are currently being inputted into the database so that all records are held centrally and the coach and their club(s) can check their FA records online. This will allow you to manage your Continous Professional Development online once the full Licence Coach Scheme is launched.

The full Licence scheme aims to provide a number of benefits. They include;

  • Recognition
  • Active promotion by The Football Association
  • Access to continued professional development
  • Access to Conferences and Seminars
  • Access to online resources
  • Shows coaches have achieved benchmark to hold a Licence to practice
  • Demonstrates a commitment to continuing professional development in addition to holding a coaching qualification
