FA Goalkeeping Coaching Award (Level 1)

The Course has been cancelled.

Course objectives :

On completion of the course the competent coach will be able to:
• Coach basic individual techniques and understand how to develop and improve the Goalkeepers’ technique.
• Plan and prepare progressive technical practices.
• Maintain the health and safety of the players and other coaches.
• Maintain the high standards of conduct to promote Association Football.

Course of Training: 24 hours (including Emergency Aid & Safeguarding Children Workshop)

Practical Demonstrations : 5 hours
Specific Goalkeeping warm ups and cool downs
Footwork
The “Set” position.

General handling techniques
Diving saves – catching / deflecting / Parrying
Dealing with 1 v 1
Dealing with crosses

Candidate Practice Sessions : 3 hours :
Key Technical Aspects

Final Assessment : 5 hours
Two Groups of eight
3 hours : Technical Practices ( 15 minutes each candidate )
2 hours : Candidate De-briefs and Action Plans

Theory Modules : 4 Hours
1 hour : Course Introduction
3 hours: Long Term Player Development: 4 Corner model

*Non – Contact time : 6 hours
3 hours : Emergency Aid
3 hours : Child Protection

The course will cost £100 per candidate and the minimum age is 16 years.
