Support from the County FA is irrespective of the size of the project but behind any successful scheme is a Football Development Plan meeting the needs of the organisation, a realistic Business Plan which supports sustainability, compliant Technical Information and partnership funding. The likelihood is that any applicant developing football facilities will seek funding from the Football Foundation to develop their scheme and the three areas mentioned above must be adhered to if the project is to be successful in attracting funding support.
If you believe you may have a scheme which would attract funding we would urge you to undertake three actions:
1) Complete the online FA expression of interest known as FA Facility Enquiry. A Football Development Officer (FDO) will respond to the initial enquiry.
2) Do not part with any valuable funds that you may have until you have discussed your project with the FDO.
3) Read the criteria in full of any potential funding partner to establish your projects eligibility. There is a range of different funding streams available, but many clubs may find that the Premier League & The FA Facilities Fund is an appropriate partner.
An initial conversation with the FDO will establish the funding viability of a project, advice on potential funding partners and the next steps. The FDO may indicate that you should progress with further support in which case you will be asked to complete an Expression of Interest form which formally engages you within the funding process. Pitch Improvement Scheme
The FA has been working in partnership with the Institute of Groundmanship (IOG) to develop a Grass Pitch Maintenance service that can be utilised by grassroots football clubs.
The key principles behind the service are to provide AFA clubs with advice and practical solutions on a number of areas, with the simple aim of improving the club's playing surface.
The AFA are pleased to be able to offer this to support to our clubs.
To qualify for a consultation, clubs will need either to own or to be responsible for maintenance to the grass pitches.
Each site visit includes a pitch assessment looking at site specifics, equipment available, budget and club expertise. There will be a general discussion with club personnel and a report produced with recommendations to improve the playing surface. The visit takes approximately an hour.
The cost is £100 and £75 for Charter Standard Clubs.
