A football club is about far more than the players on the pitch. The AFA is committed to supporting the volunteers in club football that make up the backbone of grassroots football.

A well-run club should feature the backroom staff of a Fixtures Secretary, fundraisers, a Club Welfare Officer and a Chairman to oversee the club’s constitution, as well as frontline first aiders to act as physios and team coaches.

The FA recognises the value of volunteers and provides guides to clubs on how to recruit, retain and reward volunteers.

To find out more, download a copy of the Football Workforce Handbook. Please also take a look at the FA Guide to Recruitment and Selection of Volunteers.

If you'd like to get involved with a local club, use the Find a Club link to find clubs close to you, or contact the AFA here.
