Women and Girls

    •
Women and Girls Football is the top female sport; last season 133,000 players competed in affiliated league and cup competition.

FA research has shown that more than 1.5 million girls under the age of 15 played some form of football over the past 12 months and it is our aim to engage those girls in competitive school teams or youth clubs.

The FA funds officers to specifically develop opportunities for girls and there is a player pathway to steer talented girls from the beginnings of mini soccer at a young age right through to the Centres of Excellence and England teams.

Whether you’re a beginner at Primary School or hitting your teens and have never played before, or maybe you’re older and want to get back in the game there is something for you.

Perhaps coaching, officiating or administration is more your thing. Without people in these roles the game could not operate. Whichever area you are interested in there is an opportunity for you.

Below are some of the programmes and initiatives available:

■ 3 Lions / School – Club link coaching courses.
■ The FA Charter Standard Award
■ Female only Coaching and Match Official courses
■ Female Coach Mentoring Scheme
■ Female Coaching Clinics
■ Futsal
■ Senior and Junior Women’s County Cups
■ Girls (Youth) County Cups
