County Refereeing Academy

Amateur FA referees are invited to apply for the County Refereeing Academy, which is the entry point to the FA’s CORE (Centre of Refereeing Excellence

Applications are invited to join the refereeing panel of the Academy, with sessions taking place at Barnet FC on Sunday mornings, having started from the start of the 2016/17 season. Attendees will officiate Barnet U11-U15 Academy matches in a protected environment where experienced referee coaches are on hand to offer support and advice.

Matches are split into four quarters of 20 minutes with referee coaching points offered between each session and feedback given post-match to improve performance and technique.

Academy Director, Keith Hiller, said: “This is a great learning environment for keen young referees to develop their refereeing skills and techniques, without parents on the touchlines, at a professional club where the facilities are excellent.

“We aim to prepare referees for what to expect at Level 4 and above, and most find the coaching and feedback invaluable in developing their career under expert guidance”.

The selection criteria requires keen, committed, talented referees who are looking for promotion.
