On Monday 13 February 2017, the AFA and London FA, in partnership with Women in Sport, delivered the ‘Re-thinking Sport for Women & Girls’ workshop which had a specific focus on football and looked at:
• Understanding your audience
• Marketing and communications
• Running your sessions
• Keeping them coming back
Clubs in attendance looked at new ways of understanding women and girls and what can be done differently to ‘talk’ to them to encourage participants to keep coming back.
Jennie Rivett, Senior Sport Partnerships Manager for Women in Sport, discussed with attendees ways to identify opportunities to review offers for women and girls and what can be done to be able to align products and programmes more effectively to women’s lives, which will ultimately keep them playing football.
The evening presented clubs with an opportunity to gain insight into a new way of understanding women and girls and how through understanding your audience, you can sustain and increase participation across the female game.
