AFA Senior Cup 100

AFA Senior Cup 100

The AFA Senior Cup is being competed for the 100th time in 2019 and was first played for in 1907/08 season when Casuals beat Old Carthusians 3-1 at the Queens Club, West Kensington in front of 2000 spectators.

We are down to the last 16 of this season’s competition and its pleasing to see that Old Carthusians (Arthurian League) are still in the mix over 100 years later where they travel to Old Thorntonians (AFC) for a place in the quarter finals.

Other ties include holders Actonians who host local SAL colleague Ibis Eagles, five times winners West Wickham (SAL) are at home Old Manorians from the AFC and Civil Service make the short trip across the A316 to face 2017 winners Polytechnic in an all SAL tie.

The Southern Amateur Leagues, Nottsborough follow up their trip to Wake Green Birmingham in the last round with another journey, this time to Aylesbury to face Icarus, Old Garchonians (SAL) host Old Hamptonians  (AFC) and 1999 holders Old Finchleians are at home to five times winners and SAL colleagues Winchmore Hill.

The tie of the round sees high flying Norsemen, unbeaten in SAL senior div 2 play hosts to Old Meadonians currently second in AFC Premier Division.

Good luck to all involved, the draw for the quarter finals will be held at 2.00pm on Monday 14th January
