Development Opportunities

At the AFA we offer a number of Referee Development opportunities throughout the year through training and other events, including: -

•    Numerous Basic FA Referee Training Courses annually around London
•    A lining practical at Winchmore Hill through the AFA Youth Council
•    Cup Finals Match Officials training
•    One-to-one observations feedback and reports for those who apply for the promotion scheme (which is open to all referees), and others if resources allow
•    An In-Service Training (IST) day for promotion candidates at Old Finchleians
•    Two Fitness tests and fitness training at Pickett’s Lock
•    Young Referees’ Development Group
•    Refereeing Academy at Barnet FC – Entry level for the FA’s CORE Programme

In conjunction with the AFA & Lonsar Referees’ Society we additionally offer: -

•    A practical training session at Alexandra Park
•    The Annual RA Conference with free coach travel and lunch
•    Three RA-FA Training Hub sessions (in Central London, Actonians, and Old Tenisonians, all  with FA presenters)
•    45-minute match interactive incident analysis and training sessions at each monthly Society meeting throughout the year
•    The practical training day in August at Actonians, with barbecue
