This course provides you with an introduction to the organisation and delivery of safe, engaging and progressive coaching sessions for goalkeepers.
You'll gain further insight into the game in England, how it is played and how you can coach to better support the development of future goalkeepers in grassroots football.
- The FA 4 Corner Player Development Model which will help you understand the long-term development of your goalkeepers as a whole person
- The FA Plan, Do, Review Model, helping you construct appropriate practices and sessions for your goalkeepers
- A series of practical coaching ideas, giving you the ability to recognise the various ingredients that make up safe, fun and engaging practices that develop your goalkeepers
- Support in linking sessions together to form short coaching programmes linked to the needs of your goalkeepers
- Practical coaching opportunities both on the course and where possible with your own goalkeepers
Course Pre-requisites
Prior to registering for this course, learners must hold:
- Be at least 16 years of age
- Hold FA Level 1 in Coaching Goalkeepers
- Hold FA Level 1 in Coaching Football (unless FA Level 2 in Coaching Football was completed prior to 01 August 2016)
- Hold FA Level 2 in Coaching Football
- Hold as a minimum a current FA Emergency Aid/IFAiF
- Have attended The FA Safeguarding Children Workshop (or FA online Safeguarding Children Re-certification / Safeguarding for Coaches - How We Support) within the last three years
Outcomes
- Develop an understanding of the practical and theoretical aspects of planning, delivering and reviewing individual football coaching sessions for goalkeepers
- Create safe, fun and engaging coaching sessions through building, developing and extending a series of linked practices

Safeguarding is everybody’s responsibility.
Recognising the important role you play in football, safeguarding training and awareness must be updated every three years. Those who have previously attended a Safeguarding Children Workshop will be able to take the free online recertification course. Instructions on how to access this are available below!
