Sunday Youth Cup Finals Report

Six keenly contested finals took place at Norsemen FC, Edmonton on Sunday 15 April 2018.

The weather held good for the annual Amateur FA Youth Cup Finals Day, with the rain holding off until the final trophy had been presented.

Our hosts, The Norsemen Club, did a first-rate job as always, providing good quality pitches after a wet week and excellent back-up facilities and support. Well done to them.

All of the Finals were keenly contested, with several very close and two going to penalties. Below is a round-up of the results.

UNDER 12 FINAL

Kentish Town Youth Football Trust 3-1 Winchmore Hill Youth

Winchmore Hill had taken the lead with a spectacular 20 yard shot before Kentish Town staged a fightback to emerge worthy winners.

UNDER 13 FINAL

Norsemen 7-2 Bealonians

A very good Norsemen side stormed ahead early and were 6-0 ahead at half-time, with Conor Corbett - who scored four goals - outstanding. However, Bealonians showed remarkable character to come back in the second half and displayed their skill and endeavour.

UNDER 14 FINAL

Risden Wood Colts 2-0 Pro Touch SA 2004

A very tight game between two good sides, which Risden Wood just edged.

UNDER 15 FINAL

Alexandra Park Youth North 3-4 Pro:Direct Academy BXB

A good Pro:Direct side were coasting at 4-1 before a spirited fightback from Alexandra Park almost took the game to extra-time.

Two very evenly matched sides fought out a 1-1 draw after extra-time before Grays Athletic finally triumphed in the penalty shootout.

These sides were so evenly matched that it took until the last and 22nd kick of the penalty shootout before the Alexandra Park ‘keeper rifled home the winner. It was an excellent match; played between two good sides.
